Founder and Chief Development Officer
Rachel King is a founding partner and CDO behind Kaneh Co. Before kicking off the company in 2015, Rachel spent years creating desserts for several of San Diego’s most acclaimed restaurants. Rachel grew up in San Diego and is a graduate of SDSU and the San Diego Culinary Institute.
Prior to launching Kaneh Co., Rachel worked in some of San Diego’s most recognized restaurants, including Mister A’s, NINE-TEN, Searsucker and Herringbone. Rachel has received numerous accolades for her creations and was nominated for Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Pastry Chef in 2013. With her knowledge and passion for pastries and sweets, Rachel transitioned from pastry chef to founder to build an elevated cannabis edibles brand with the vision of producing only high-end desserts, made with premium ingredients.
When Rachel isn’t baking delicious pastries, you’re likely to find her exploring the outdoors with her family, gardening, or doing something else active in the sunshine.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Jesse is a San Diego Native and has navigated the changing climate of the California edibles market for over 10 years. He brings to Kaneh Co. his years of experience as a previous owner and operator of a medical edibles brand. Additionally, Jesse has both managed and owned successful dispensary operations. His immersion in the cannabis industry has given him the opportunity to earn valuable experience in the production, sale, and distribution of cannabis products. In his free time you’ll find Jesse at the gym, off-roading, and spending time with friends.
Chief Financial Officer
Matt serves as CFO and has led all financial, lender, and investor reporting since he began with original Kaneh team in 2015.
Matt has implemented and continues to incorporate scalable and sustainable technological solutions to maximize asset operational efficiency, streamline reporting, and enhance investor communication and transparency.
Prior to joining Kaneh, Matt served as VP of Finance and Controller for three privately-held Class A office, retail, and medical real estate firms totaling over $3 billion in assets. Matt holds a BA in Business Economics with Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Matt is a San Diego native and loves being active outdoors.
Chief Operating Officer
Nicole is a San Diego Native and a San Diego Culinary Institute graduate. She has extensive retail, culinary, and customer service experience. Nicole originally interned under Rachel King at Nine-Ten and then went on to work at Juniper & Ivy and helm her own pastry kitchen at Banker’s Hill. Nicole began with Kaneh a few months after the company was formed. She began as a cook and then worked her way up through Kitchen Manager, Culinary Director, and then now leads operations as a whole. Nicole is a fitness fanatic, avid reader and loves spending weekends with her family and friends.
Chief Compliance Officer
“Chip” is a San Diego native and has been part of the Medical Marijuana community since 2006. Chip leads the Compliance team to ensure that all of Kaneh Co. follows applicable regulations and legal requirements. Chip has accrued extensive experience in the Cannabis industry and has held positions in growing, budtending, dispensary ownership, vending, transportation, trimming, and formulation. Chip has a design education as well as sales and design experience.
